Buncombe County -- Press Release Buncombe County District Attorney's Office: October 27, 2025 - This morning, Erika Denise Frisby, 24, pleaded guilty before Buncombe County Superior Court Judge Alan Thornburg to Accessory After the Fact to Second-Degree Murder in the 2023 death of Jeruan Spencer.
Judge Thornburg sentenced Frisby to a term of 60 to 84 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.The case stems from the discovery of Jeruan Spencer’s body in a wooded area along McKinney Road in August of 2023. Authorities determined Spencer was shot while in a vehicle on Haywood Road in West Asheville.Frisby was initially charged with second-degree murder after a warrant was issued on May 5, 2025, and was arrested the next day.Frisby’s involvement was limited to the destructi
