Morganton man, Samuel Hensley, charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 14-month-old after a six-month investigation.
Burke County -- May 22, 2026: Burke County Sheriff's Office Press Release: On November 7, 2025, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2509 NC 18-US 64, Lot 26, Morganton, in reference to a cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased 14-month-old male. The Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.Following an approximately six-month investigation, warrants were issued for Samuel James Hensley on charges of second-degree murder.
