WNC -- February 6, 2026: Western North Carolina forests and wildlife habitats are set to receive a significant boost following Hurricane Helene. A $290 million agreement aims to restore damaged ecosystems in the region.The U.S. Forest Service and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission signed a $290 million Good Neighbor Agreement on February 5, 2026.
