Forecasters with the National Weather Service say Western North Carolina is entering a stretch of increasingly hot and humid weather this week, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and 90s in many communities. When humidity is added, it could feel like 100 degrees or higher in portions of the foothills and lower elevations as the Independence Day holiday approaches.
