Asheville -- Press Release: Asheville Police Department Patrol Officers arrested a driver who struck several vehicles and light poles in downtown Asheville on Monday evening.
APD officers responded to multiple reports of a pickup truck driving recklessly in downtown Asheville, endangering pedestrians, and striking vehicles and street lights downtown around 7:30 p.m. on March 2nd. Officers located the vehicle, described as a GMC Sierra truck, on Walnut Street after it struck a parked vehicle, which appeared to disable the truck. The driver, identified as Nicholas Dean Jones (12/10/1982), ignored officers' instructions, instead revving the engine in an unsuccessful attempt to free the truck and flee the scene. Officers were able to safely remove Jones from the vehicle and take him into custody.
