Asheville -- April 28, 2026: An investigation into an early-April sexual assault has led to the arrest of a 62-year-old man, according to the Asheville Police Department (APD). Louie Willard Perry Jr. faces charges of Second-Degree Forcible Rape and is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility.
Investigation and Arrest
The case began on the morning of April 12, when APD officers responded to reports of a sexual assault on Bartlett Street around 7 a.m. Detectives state the assault occurred the previous day, April 11.
Investigators utilized a combination of traditional detective work and modern technology to identify Perry as the suspect. Key components of the investigation included:
